Madison Fitzpatrick scored a goal Tuesday during Brentsville's 8-0 win over Manassas Park.

Eight Brentsville players scored Tuesday to clinch the Class 3 Northwestern District regular season championship with an 8-0 mercy-rule victory over Manassas Park’s girls soccer team on the road in Manassas. 

The Tigers finished with a 9-1-0 district record and improved to 12-2-2 overall with six consecutive wins, including four shutouts in a row, giving them 10 shutouts this season. So Brentsville secured the No. 1 seed for the Region 3B tournament, in which the Tigers will face the No. 8 Cougars again Thursday during the quarterfinals.

On Tuesday, Maria Mendo and Catharine Forst each finished with one goal and one assist. Adding one goal apiece were Johanna Dobek, Emily Payne, Katy Miller, Madeline Bohan, Madison Fitzpatrick and Taylor McGovern.

Battlefield girls soccer 2, Washington-Lee 1

Brianna Robinson scored the winning goal with about 13 minutes remaining in the second half Tuesday to give the Battlefield Bobcats a 2-1 victory over Washington-Lee during the first round of the Class 6 Region D girls soccer tournament at home in Haymarket.

So they advanced to play Oakton in the quarterfinals Thursday with a 16-2-1 record, including seven consecutive victories.

Jenna Daunt assisted Robinson’s winning goal after she scored the initial goal of the game about 16 minutes into the first half. Washington Lee’s McKenna Cromwell then tied the score 1-1 in the final minute of the first half, but the Generals didn’t score again as Battlefield goalkeeper Ashley Donohoe finished with nine saves.

Brentsville baseball 10, Manassas Park 0

Four Brentsville pitchers combined to pitch a one-hitter Tuesday to clinch the Class 3 Northwestern District regular season championship with a 10-0 victory over Manassas Park's baseball team on the road in Manassas.

Sam Beard earned the pitching victory with only two hit batsmen keeping him from throwing three perfect innings, while Mickey Haynes struck out three, allowing two walks and zero hits over two scoreless innings to help the Tigers finish the district regular season with an 8-2 record and 17-3 mark overall. Pitching one inning each were Alex Seymour (two strikeouts, hit, walk) and Billy Hoad (three strikeouts).

Offensively, Collin Reid went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Luke Binsted went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. Vince DiMauro added two RBIs on 1-for-4 hitting, while adding two runs apiece were Billy Hoad (0-for-2, steal) and Isaiah Thomas (0-for-1, one walk).


Ellie Post went 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBIs and two steal Tuesday during Brentsville's 12-0 win over Manassas Park.

Brentsville softball 12, Manassas Park 0

Rachel Bush pitched a one-hitter Tuesday to give the Brentsville Tigers a 12-0 victory over Manassas Park's softball team in five innings via 10-run mercy rule on the road in Manassas.

She struck out five and allowed two walks and a hit over five scoreless innings as Brentsville improved its record to 4-16 overall and 3-7 in the Class 3 Northwestern District.

Ellie Post led the Tigers offensively with four runs, two RBIs, two steals and a double on 3-for-4 hitting, while Olivia Gagne went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Adding three runs and two steals on 1-for-2 hitting each were Celine Jenkins (two RBIs) and Hanna Guidry, while Mara Brooks added two RBIs and a walk on 0-for-3 hitting.
