With 21 points from Brandon Daniels, the Forest Park Bruins earned their first win of the boys basketball season by beating Osbourn Park 63-57 Monday at home in Woodbridge.
He made five 3-pointers to help give Forest Park a 1-5 record while dropping the Yellow Jackets to 3-6. OP took a 20-15 lead in the first quarter and expanded that to 36-27 at halftime, but the Bruins rallied with an 18-6 third period. They entered the fourth quarter with a 45-42 lead and ended on an 18-14 run.
Darryl Garib finished with 16 points and 9-for-12 free throw shooting, while Kevin Johnson had 11 points and Kenneth Clark had eight.
“Making key plays throughout the game to help seal the game,” Bruins coach Mak Dogbatse said of Clark.
For Osbourn Park, Ethan Wilson had 24 points (8-for-8 free throws) and Kylique Walker had 15 with Kelsey Poku and Logan Dwyer had five each.
Patriot boys basketball 71, Colonial Forge 59
The Patriot Pioneers rallied from a halftime deficit to remain undefeated with a 71-59 victory over Colonial Forge’s boys basketball team Monday at home in Nokesville.
After taking a 19-14 lead in the first quarter, the Pioneers fell behind 39-34 at halftime before entering the fourth period with a 55-44 advantage en route to a 7-0 record.
Devin Parrish led them with 25 points on 11-for-19 field goal shooting to boost his season average to 18.7 points per game. Yusef Salih added 10 points, while Lance Gaskins and Marcus Taylor had eight each with Zack Blue scoring seven. Salih, Gaskins and Taylor each made 4 of 6 field goals.
Parrish also led Patriot with eight rebounds, four steals and three assists, while adding five rebounds apiece were Gaskins, Taylor and Salih. Taylor also had three steals while Hagen Vandiver had three assists.
