Austin St. John, of Fauquier County, turned 9 this week. The pandemic put a damper on party plans, but local veterans groups, the Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department and the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office made sure he had a birthday to remember.
They were joined by vehicles carrying Austin’s friends for a cheerful parade up and down his street in Morrisville. They all flashed their lights and honked their horns to say happy birthday.
Austin’s parents, Crystal and Cody St. John, colluded with the local folks to coordinate the surprise.
Austin was delighted with the display, as were his friends, who greeted him from their family van with a bunch of balloons and a spray of Silly String.
