Fourteen vehicles were involved in two separate crashes on eastbound Interstate 66 Thursday night near Vienna, but only one person suffered minor injuries, according to the Virginia State Police.
At approximately 5:50 p.m., Thursday, April 4, police received a call about a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of I-66 near Exit 60, which is Va. 123-Vienna.
As traffic swerved to avoid those vehicles, a chain-reaction crash occurred, said Corinne Geller, VSP spokeswoman.
In the end, there were 12 vehicles in the chain-reaction crash. The last two vehicles caught fire, Geller said.
Of both crashes – the two-vehicle crash and then chain-reaction, 12-vehicle crash -- there was only one minor injury and that driver was treated at the scene, Geller said.
The crashes remain under investigation. Charges are pending, Geller said.Â
