The new namesakes of Unity Reed High School and Unity Braxton High School -- formerly Stonewall Jackson High School and Stonewall Middle -- are Arthur Reed, left, a security assistant at the former Stonewall Jackson High School who died in 2018, and Celestine and Carroll Braxton, right. Celestine, who died in 2014, taught for 33 years in Prince William County schools and was one of a second wave of Black teachers to integrate local public schools. Carroll Braxton, 96, is a retired Marine master gunnery sergeant, was one of the first Black U.S. Marines. Braxton is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a Congressional Gold Medal recipient.
